How it works
The generator builds text bottom-up: random words from the lorem ipsum vocabulary form sentences of 6–14 words, sentences form paragraphs of 4–8, and the requested number of paragraphs, sentences or words is produced exactly.
With the classic opening enabled, the first sentence is the traditional “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet…” line — the text people expect to see when a design is mocked up.

- What is lorem ipsum and why is it used?
- Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin text derived from a work by Cicero, used as placeholder content since the 1500s. Designers use it because it has a realistic distribution of word lengths and sentence shapes, letting people judge layout and typography without being distracted by readable content.
- Where does the generated text come from?
- The generator draws randomly from the standard lorem ipsum vocabulary of about 110 Latin words, building sentences of 6–14 words and paragraphs of 4–8 sentences. If the classic opening is enabled, the first sentence is always “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua.”
- Are the counts exact?
- Yes. Ask for 5 paragraphs and you get exactly 5 paragraphs; 12 words gives exactly 12 words. The only thing that varies between generations is which words are chosen.
- Why not just copy lorem ipsum from a website?
- Copying gives you the same text every time and never exactly the length you need. This generator produces exactly the amount you want — paragraphs for page layouts, sentences for component previews, words for labels and short fields — in one click.
- Is the generated text sent to a server?
- No. Generation happens entirely in your browser with JavaScript. Nothing is transmitted anywhere — you can verify this in your browser's network inspector.
